Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I have been a member of this forum for some months under another username, RennaissanceBard, but have decided to take this username now. I do this out of a contrition for my past offenses on this forum as I see them, namely my pride, vanity, and selfishness. I resolve to amend these faults but truly being more considerate and yielding to criticism, critiquing as much as I post, and posting less frequently in general. I am more ashamed of my past offences than perhaps you may be so just as to think is necessary, but I cannot be but ashamed of my folly and can only offer up one just excuse perhaps--youth. But I fear there is no excuse for folly, though the world may make it so, although let those who are merciful always consider such factors.
So greetings anew, fellow writers, and may the muse guide all our pens in truth, goodness, and beauty. I do not know if any of us are great, least of all myself, but we do have the obligation and grace to write what is true and good, and therefore we do have a great task before us. May God give us genius to speak the truth, for good will will suffice for the world, buy writers must hope for genius in addition, in whatever degree God vouchsafe to bestow. Some shall have little, some shall have some, and some shall have much. God give us what we need to satisfy our art, although Pope is right that poetry is "by no means the universal concern of the world, but the concern of idle men who write in their closets, and idle men who read there."
Greetings and inspiration to all, and God bless you.
Yours Truly,
BrandonWainscott, September 26 MMXVIII
